Accountancy firm's seven-figure investment in new Aberdeen HQ
A north-east accountancy firm has invested a seven-figure sum in a new Aberdeen office in the city’s west end.
SBP Accountants & Tax Advisers has moved its city operation to 42 Queens Road in a £1.1m investment and commitment to growth in the region.
The 242.9sqm building is double the size of its previous office in Carden Place and will accommodate 13 members of SBP staff.
The office move comes following a successful three years for the business which has seen the client base, fees and staff numbers more than triple.
The company, which works with a number of high profile north-east businesses, ranging from sole traders to corporate businesses, increased its Aberdeen customer base following a take-over of Andrew Philip Accountants in 2015. Since then, client numbers have increased from 250 to 850, annual client fees have increased by nearly £600,000 and staff numbers have grown from four to 13.
SBP currently has 35 employees and six partners across its four bases in Aberdeen, Peterhead, Fraserburgh and Banff.
Managing partner of SBP, John Hannah, said: “We have been looking for larger premises in the west end of Aberdeen for a number of years so it’s a great move for the business.
“After a successful few years, we were bursting at the seams in Carden Place so the timing is right for us. We have purchased the granite building and carried out a full refurbishment creating a superb home for SBP as we continue to expand our client base and our team in the city.
“Although we have been operating in a difficult market in recent years, we have been aggressive with our growth strategy through acquisitions which have increased our customer base and staff numbers.”
SBP, which specialises in cloud accounting, has ambitious plans to continue on the acquisition trail, as well as growing the business organically. In addition to the new Aberdeen premises, the business is also investing in new software and staff training to ensure the team is continually updating its cloud accountancy skills to meet demands from clients.
The company has recently employed two new trainees and is set to increase head count before the end of the year.
SBP offers a variety of tailored business and accountancy services, including personal and business taxation, as well as a dedicated business services department to cover everything including bookkeeping, VAT and payroll requirements.
