Weekly match reports and match previews are featured in local papers and online. After completing the first sports award application on behalf of the Lynx, the club was shortlisted as a finalist in the Sport Aberdeen Awards and was announced as Club of the Year 2014 at the awards. This was the first time the club had ever been entered into sporting awards and they received a lot of press following their win. Frasermedia also assisted in organising and promoting the club’s inaugural ball by producing press features, organising the Press and Journal photo diary, securing radio coverage on Original 106 FM and contributing to raffle prizes as well as supporting with event management.
The Lynx have been featured on STV News twice within the past six months (June – December 2014) regarding the club’s Junior Ice Hockey Camp and the opening of the Aberdeen Inspired ice rink. STV TV, BBC Radio Scotland and Original 106 FM also reported on the Junior Ice Hockey Camp’s success, interviewing key individuals within the organisation.
We produce a number of press releases and features on the club and players, which are featured in local press and on the British Ice Hockey website. We supply copy for advertorial in publications and promote all of the team’s games and updates on social media. We organise press shoots for the team and have developed the team’s coverage in local publications dramatically by securing vital contact. Frasermedia also promoted the Lynx’s recent charity Bear Drive, helping raise the profile of the event encouraging people to donate teddy bears to a local toy appeal, which was featured in a number of publications.
Results
The team is now the second most supported sport team in Aberdeen and fills the ice rink to its 1,200 capacity at most home games. There has also been an increase in interest from players from teams over Scotland wanting to join the Lynx team and the club now has a much stronger presence within the local press and receives weekly coverage, increasing the clubs exposure.
